The ASSDP is a three year vocational program to train American sheep shearers

Year 1

Jan.-Feb.

Students attend shearing schools for their level. Instructors at the school will asses each student and set qualifying goals for advancement to Australia 

or development of domestic work opportunity

Feb.-May. 

Students will be placed on participating professional shearing crews in the western US for in field experience and work to meet their qualifying goals.

Year 2 & 3

Jan.-May 

Students will again be placed on participating professional shearing crews in the western US for in field experience and work with their to meet their qualifying goals.

May-July 

Students who have met all requirements will apply for visas or renewals

upon approval ASSDP will provide airfare to Australia. 

Aug.-Jan.

Students will again attend schools and or shear on Australian crews.

Upon program completion Students will have the skills and connections necessary to shear professionally anywhere in the world.
